FORT WORTH, Texas — Dickinson saddle bronc rider Shaun Stroh’s wild ride continued on Sunday.

Less than two months after winning the National Finals Rodeo, Stroh picked up his first big win of the 2010 season with an 84-point ride on Jumpin’ Jack in the final round of the Fort Worth Stock Show Rodeo. The score tied for third in the finals but gave Stroh 253 points on three rides and the average title of $13,009.

LAS VEGAS — Shaun Stroh never won a round at the National Finals Rodeo.

Yet, the Dickinson saddle bronc rider walked away as the 2009 NFR average champion after scoring an 84.5-point ride on Spring Planting in Saturday night’s 10th and final round at Thomas & Mack Arena.

Stroh said he didn’t put any thought into winning the average title in the 10-round event after he was bucked off during Friday’s ninth round.

LAS VEGAS — Dickinson resident Shaun Stroh struggled to break into the top 10 in the seventh round, finishing with a 76.5 for 11th place at the National Finals Rodeo on Wednesday.

LAS VEGAS — Dickinson’s Shaun Stroh rode LV Lights to an 80-point ride, but it wasn’t good enough to finish in the money at the National Finals Rodeo here Tuesday.

Stroh’s ride was two points behind Jesse Kruse, who took home $2,764.42 and sixth place. Wade Sundell won the sixth round, riding Round Robin to the tune of 85 points, a half-point ahead of Billy Etbauer, JJ Elshere and Isaac Diaz.

LAS VEGAS — Halfway through the National Finals Rodeo, Dickinson saddle bronc rider Shaun Stroh is leading the saddle bronc riding average.

Stroh scored an 86-point ride on Aces Full to place fourth in the fifth round of the 10-round finale Monday at Thomas & Mack Arena. Stroh earned a payout of $7,188 for the ride.

Nonetheless, Stroh said he has to stay focused.

“There’s still a lot left,” he said. “Anything could happen. I sure feel like I could be riding a little better.”
