The DSU women’s rodeo team is ranked fourth in the nation and first in the Great Plains Region after strong showings at a pair of rodeos in Iowa last weekend. The men are ranked 19th.

Four Blue Hawks are ranked sixth in the nation and lead the Great Plains in their respective events. Ty Thompson is sixth in the saddle bronc riding while Kaden Deal is seventh and Chase Kukuchka is 10th.

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Dickinson State junior Halley Treeby won the breakaway roping average at the Wisconsin-River Falls rodeo and placed in the goat tying to open the 2009-10 college rodeo season with a women’s all-around victory.

Treeby had a two-round average of 6.4 seconds in the breakaway roping and had one goat tying time of 7.9. She also had a two-round average of 34.01 seconds in the barrel racing, which put her in fifth place.

DSU Rodeo Coach Scott Kleemann has resigned to pursue other interests including the marketing of some of his inventions, professional rodeo and ranching. We wish Scott the best and look forward to hiring a new coach from amongst 12 new applicants.
